Drew Wolitarsky, the record-setting receiver from Canyon High School, will continue his football career in college at the University of Minnesota.

Wolitarsky broke two California state records in receiving. He became the state leader in receptions and receiving yards, breaking the marks set by Steve Smith, a receiver with the St. Louis Rams who played at Taft High School in Woodland Hills.

Wolitarsky is the second football player from the Foothill League headed to the Big 10. Leon Jacobs from Golden Valley verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin to play linebacker.

In college baseball, The Master’s College lost to Biola, 6-0. Biola won two of three games against the Mustangs in a series that started with a doubleheader on Saturday. The Master’s College won the first game, 2-0, but lost the nightcap, 2-0.

The Master’s College won its first four games of the season before losing its past two against Biola.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women used a second-half surge to beat San Diego Christian, 60-50.

The Lady Mustangs won their second game in a row and are 19-1 on the season.

Jacquelyn Marshall recorded a double-double for The Master’s College, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Mustangs are on the road tonight against Vanguard, the No. 3 team in the NAIA.

The Master’s College men beat San Diego Christian, 81-71, and won their second Golden State Athletic Conference game of the season.

Derrick Fain scored 23 points and led three Mustangs in double figures. The Master’s College men play Vanguard tonight in Costa Mesa.

In high school basketball, the Hart boys maintained its hold on the No. 2 spot in the CIF Southern Section Division 3AAA poll after beating West Ranch on Friday night. Tustin is ranked No. 1 in Division 3AAA.

The West Ranch boys, however, dropped a spot to No. 3 in the Division 1A poll. Santa Monica is No. 1 in Division 1A. The Valencia boys are ranked No. 8 in Division 1A.

The Trinity boys basketball team is ranked No. 3 in Division 6.

The Valencia girls basketball team, undefeated at 6-0 in the Foothill League, is ranked No. 7 in the Southern Section Division 1AA poll. Mater Dei is No. 1.

The Canyon girls basketball team is ranked No. 6 in Division 2AA. Cajon is No. 1.

The Saugus girls are ranked No. 12 in Division 2A. Orange Lutheran is No. 1.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Vancouver Canucks, 3-2 in a shootout. Jeff Carter scored two goals including the game-winner in the shootout.
