COC Cougars Handle Glendale College

Freshman reserve Keiona Mathews scored 17 points off the bench on Saturday night and the Cougars remained in first place in the conference with a 69-51 victory over Glendale College. Canyons held the visiting Vaqueros to 25 percent shooting from the field and 15.4 percent from the 3-point line. Starting guard Shawn Kolani had 17 points and five rebounds and Hope Smith and Dalisa Chapman pulled down 12 rebounds each. The Cougars will host L.A. Valley on Saturday, Feb. 2 in a rematch of the only conference team that the Cougars have lost to this season.

 

MEN

The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team remained perfect in conference play on Saturday afternoon as the squad beat Glendale College 65-58 at the Cougar Cage. Glendale committed 17 turnovers and was held to 35.6 percent shooting from the field, as the Cougars shot 54.5 percent from the field. Sophomore guard Jaylen Bland led the team with 14 points and David Horst and 11 points off the bench in just 15 minutes of play. Canyons will host L.A. Valley on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. for another conference match up.
