Members of the Saugus High School girls cross-country team will receive fancy scrolls and get their pictures taken with the five Los Angeles County supervisors when the young ladies take center stage Tuesday at the downtown L.A. Hall of Administration.
At the request of 5th District Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, the county will honor the team that won its seventh consecutive CIF State Cross Country Championship in November.
Coached by Rene Paragas and led by sophomore Samantha Ortega with a time of 17:33, the amazing 2012 team beat La Costa Canyon High School of Carlsbad by 97 points to 108 points at the final meet in Fresno to keep its hold on the crown. Teammate Heidi Hoslet posted a time of 21:18 that day, followed by Abigail Frankian, Katie Huntington and Olivia Altieri.
