14 Freeway Lanes Reopen After Big-Rig Crash

A Sigalert was issued Tuesday due to a jack knifed big-rig and fuel spill blocking all northbound lanes of Highway 14 at Escondido Canyon Road, forcing traffic to get by using the right shoulder.

The incident was reported at 5:43 a.m. and initially involved two big-rigs and another vehicle, which were blocking lanes. A total of three trailers overturned and were uprighted at about 6:38 a.m. The Sigalert was issued just before 7 a.m. and was expected to last at least one hour.

Commuters are advised to take Soledad Canyon or Sierra Highway northbound to either Red Rover Mine Road or Crown Valley Road and re-enter Highway 14 from there.

Two northbound freeway lanes had reopened by 8 a.m. The fast lane was set to reopen around 8:15 a.m., while HOV lane remained shut for drainage.
