The William S. Hart Union High School District’s Regional Occupation Program offers job shadowing and unpaid internships. They have partnered with several local businesses from a variety of fields.
Students interested in an internship must be at least a junior, though registration priority is given to seniors. Typically, students attend class on Mondays and then work on the internship site during the remainder of the week, earning a letter grade and elective credit.
Internships run for 16 weeks during the regular semester, and six weeks for summer classes.
To be eligible for the program, students must have at least a C in all classes on their most recent report card, good attendance and behavior, and it preferred that they take classes relating to the internship before applying.
Classes start on Monday, Sept. 9 and applications much be received by Wednesday, Aug. 28. For a list of requirements and instructions and an application form, click here.
The Hart District also provides job shadowing opportunities, for students who want to spend just a couple hours observing a professional on the job.
