Intruder at Large After Breaking Into Officer’s SCV Home

lasd_scvstation_pressrelease_badgeSanta Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies are actively seeking a hot prowl burglary suspect who broke into the home of a reserve police officer with the Baldwin Park Police Department Thursday night and stole two purses.


The victim was in his home near Lost Canyon Road when he heard a loud crash at 11:15 p.m., according to Deputy Josh Dubin.


The victim went to investigate and found a rear sliding glass door smashed and the suspect standing in his kitchen.


The victim retrieved his handgun and ordered the suspect to lie down on the ground. The suspect acted as if he were going to comply but then began to move again, and the victim fired one round, Dubin said.


It is not known whether the suspect was injured by the gunshot.


The suspect then fled on foot, and a containment was established, employing a helicopter and deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station to help in the search.


The was described by the victim as a male between 15 and 20 years old, 5’7” and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie.


The case is still an active investigation being handled by SCV Sheriff’s Station detectives.
