The City of Santa Clarita is hosting a Welcome Week celebration for area residents to learn more about services and programs available at the new Canyon Country Community Center now through Saturday, Jan. 19.
Community members are invited to learn about all the amenities the Center has to offer, explore the new facility, meet staff members, obtain membership, register for classes and programs, and participate in the community tile art project sponsored by Saugus High School. Additional free family fun activities will be provided on Friday, January 18, and Saturday, January 19, giving community members a chance to try the XerPro Activity Wall, play Wii video games, participate in various arts and crafts, and more.
“We are very excited to open the doors to our new Canyon Country Community Center and would like to encourage children, teens, parents and seniors to learn more about its recreation, educational and community service offerings,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “The Center was designed to provide core programming, activities and be a resource to Canyon Country residents.”
During the Canyon Country Community Center grand opening event on Saturday, January 12, over 100 excited residents became members of the Center and eagerly awaited programming, which begins the week of January 22.
The Center’s programming includes L.E.A.P. (Leisure Enrichment Activities Program), enrichment and educational programs, “Healthy Santa Clarita” activities, senior programming, inter-generational programming, and classes for parents with young children and babies.
Registration is required for all classes and programs at the Center due to limited space and availability. Online registration is available now and walk-in registration begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, at the Center.
The new Canyon Country Community Center is located at 18792 Flying Tiger Drive, off of Sierra Highway and Flying Tiger Drive. Beginning Tuesday, January 22, the Center will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
