A frost warning is in effect for the Santa Clarita Valley, where overnight temperatures are expected to dip to 27 degrees.
A low of 23 degrees is expected in the Grapevine-Ridge Route communities, and single-digit temperatures are possible in portions of the Antelope Valley.
The cold-weather warning is in effect for the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys, the northern San Fernando Valley, and coastal regions of Ventura County which should see lows in the upper 20s.
According to the National Weather Service, “this will likely be the coldest weather of the season so far and could cause significant damage to crops and plants.”
The warning remains in effect until Sunday morning and should be followed by high winds Sunday night through Monday, with overnight lows of 30 degrees Sunday night in the SCV.
Monday’s Santa Ana winds are expected to bring gusts at or above 60 mph in the local mountains and some valley areas.
