CougarNews.com | Farewell reception held for newly elected Assemblyman Scott Wilk

A Farewell Reception was held Friday to honor former COC Board of Trustee Scott Wilk, newly elected member of the California Assembly. Wilk who served as a board member for 6 years now serves as our representative of the 38th Assembly District after being sworn into office December 3rd.

The event was attended by college faculty, staff and administrators, community leaders and Wilk’s friends, family members, colleagues and supporters.

Dr. Dianne Van Hook hosted the event in the lobby of the University Center at College of the Canyons in honor of the commitment and service Wilk has given to COC and the community.

In light of the available trustee seat, COC Board of Trustees held a special meeting Monday to interview candidates eager for an appointment to the vacated seat.

Attorney Steve Zimmer, former Newhall Land Executive, was chosen after Trustee members interviewed each applicant before voting for the best qualified candidate.

The board is scheduled to meet again on Wednesday, with its newest board member, for its first regular meeting of 2013.
