Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley was the runner-up in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Evergreen Speedway in Washington.

He finished behind rookie Dylan Lupton in a race that ended with a multi-car crash. Pursley’s car suffered damage in the wreck, but he was able to cross the finish line in second place.

Pursley is in fourth place in the West Series standings. Derek Thorn leads the West Series standings by 23 points over Cameron Hayley, Pursley’s teammate at Gene Price Motorsports.

At the Irwindale Event Center, Mark Borchetta from Valencia was second in the Legends Cars race. Darren Amidon from Lakeside won the race.

In baseball, the Dodgers lost to the Miami Marlins, 6-2, their second loss in a row.

The Marlins scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull away. It was the first time the Dodgers have lost back-to-back games since June 21.

The Dodgers are 25-5 since the All Star break and are 19-3 in their past 22 road games.

They are still in first place in the National League West standings, 7 ½ games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers and Marlins play again tonight in Miami. Listen to the game on AM 1220, KHTS. First pitch is at 4:10 p.m.
