SCVTV to Televise SCV Hoops Finale

The final high school basketball games of the season will be played Saturday night at Valencia High School, with all the action televised later that night on SCVTV, Santa Clarita’s only local television channel.


The games will feature the top girls and boys seniors from the six Foothill League schools, Santa Clarita Christian and Trinity Classical Academy. Proceeds benefit the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District’s WiSH Foundation.


The telecast of the girls game will start at 8 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 20, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 and on the web at SCVTV.com. The boys game begins at 10 p.m.


A slam-dunk contest will be held at halftime of the boys game. To watch the best dunkers in Santa Clarita, go to SCVTV.com/Sports beginning Sunday. The 3-point shooting contest held at halftime of the girls game will also be shown as a web extra on SCVTV.com/Sports.


The two boys teams will be coached by Canyon head coach Sean DeLong and Trinity’s John Brooks.


DeLong’s team will be from West Ranch, Canyon and Golden Valley. West Ranch players scheduled to appear include Kevin harris, Ben Johnson, Ako Kaluna, Zac Nuttall, Cody Sanders and Kyle Williams. Canyon players include Devin Baldwin, Markie Cortez, Matt Edwards and Park MacKenzie. Golden Valley players are James Chevious, Jordan Glover, Kourbine Lee and Kyle Strem.


Brooks’s team will be from Hart, Valencia, Saugus and Santa Clarita Christian. Hart players are Brandon Figearo, Ryan Russell and Stanley Wilder. Players from Valencia are Riley Honaker, Garrett Mesa, Garrett Mike and Kayode Wellington. Saugus players are Jeff Ashburn, Jacob Dawe, Zach Garlitos, Garrett Harding and Chris Lockwood. The lone player from Santa Clarita Christian is Larue Nixon.


The two girls teams will be coached by Valencia head coach Jerry Mike and Canyon’s Chuck Johns.


Mike’s team will be from Valencia, Saugus and Hart. Players from Valencia include Jennifer Anumba, Jasmin Dimson, Kristie Dolan, Preea Johnson and Kalia Summerlin. Saugus players are Rachel Eaton and Fay Osburn. Hart’s representatives will be Nikki Aganian, Kianna Landon and Jessy Rea.


Johns’s team will be from Canyon, Golden Valley and West Ranch. Players from Canyon scheduled to appear are Alia McCoy, Jaya Schultz and Marissa Schwimmer. Ashley Oliver will represent Golden Valley. West Ranch will suit up Melissa Arima, Kiana Calderon, Hannah Green and Melanie Jensen.
