The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2012-13 Division I Women’s Basketball All-America Teams.  All-American selections were made by the NAIA-Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association All-America Committee.

Two Lady Mustangs highlighted the All-American selections: Jacquelyn Marshall (San Clemente, CA) earning second-team honors, and Lena Rivera (Allen, TX), who received honorable mention, respectively.

Marshall, a junior transfer from UC Irvine, made a seamless transition to the Lady Mustang frontcourt, posting a team-high 13.1ppg and 7.7rpg.  Marshall paced the Lady Mustangs in field goal percentage (47.6%) and blocked shots (59).  Marshall also notched eight double-doubles, scoring in double figures a team-best 24 times and pulling down 10 or more rebounds eight times.

Rivera

Rivera

Rivera capped a stellar four-year career with the Lady Mustangs starting all 31 of the team’s games, and led the Mustangs in free throwsmade (89) and steals (80). Rivera finished second on the squad in scoring (10.4ppg), assists (100), and blocks (18). She also pulled down eight rebounds on three occasions and had seven steals in two outings.

Both Lady Mustangs led TMC to a third-place finish in the Golden State Athletic Conference and a No. 10 ranking in the NAIA.  A 25-5 regular season record qualified the Lady Mustangs for the 33rd annual NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Tournament where they were knocked out in the first round by Carroll College of Montana.
