John Gilbertson

The Master’s College track & field program received confirmation Wednesday night that John Gilbertson (Saugus, CA), Matthew Crichton (Mission Viejo, CA), David Eller (Los Angeles, CA), and Jason Logan (Spartanburg, SC) have been accepted to compete in the 2013 Stanford Invitational, an elite track & field meet held in Palo Alto, California, on March 29 & 30.

Gilbertson, who has placed second in the three events he has competed in this season, is slated to race in the 10,000-meter event.  The 2012 NAIA cross country national champion competed at the Stanford Invitational last season alongside TMC track alumni Anthony Pizzo (Santa Clarita, CA) in the 5k and 10k.  The duo, who were the only representatives of the NAIA in their respective heat, worked in tandem as Pizzo finished the race in 14 minutes and 03.57 seconds, followed by Gilbertson at 14:04.86.

Eller and Crichton will compete in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase.  The duo’s performance at the 2013 Oxy Distance Carnival punched their ticket to Stanford as Eller led the way with a time of 9:28.42, while Crichton followed with 9:40.58.

Jason Logan

Jason Logan

Jason Logan, who is currently TMC’s lone multi-sport athlete, has been awarded the opportunity to compete in high jump.  Logan has only competed in the high jump once this season at the 2013 Ben Brown Invitational on March 9.  At the event, Logan made a total of 13 attempts with the best jump consisting of 2.0m (6’ 6-3/4’’), and walked away with the title “Best Jumper of the Day”.

Under the tutelage of seventh-year distance coach Zach Schroeder, the four athletes are projected to excel in their respective fields amongst the nation’s top collegiate and professional athletes.
