CougarNews.com | College of the Canyons to begin groundbreaking on Administration Building

College of the Canyons will officially begin digging up dirt on Thursday as Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook and The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees will host a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Administration building

The college began demolition of the old A-building during the winter break and completed it just before spring semester began.

The building is estimated to be finished before January 2015 and will be approximately 46,000 square feet and two stories high.

Included in the new space will be the financial aid office, transfer and career center, the college switchboard, computer kiosks, and a Counseling office, along with other offices.

The first floor will hold Admissions and Records and is expected to hold two more departments, while the second floor will house the rest.

Goals for the future A-building are to make life more convenient for students, allowing all departments of admission to be in one place, according to the COC News Advisory.

The project is estimated to cost $17.8 million and will be paid through Measure M. To learn more about this measure visit: http://www.canyons.edu/offices/pio/mfacts.html.
