A parolee was arrested on car theft charges after a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputy conducting routine patrols noticed suspicious activity at the Newhall Park and Ride lot at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.
“Deputies are always watching for suspicious behavior, especially in the early morning hours,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Erin House, 24, of Lancaster, was arrested for grand theft auto, possession of methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia, an outstanding no-bail warrant and two warrants for subway fare evasion in Los Angeles.
“After the deputy contacted him, they discovered he is a parolee at large,” Dubin said. The no-bail warrant was issued by the California Department of Corrections.
“In the course of the investigation, the deputy also recovered methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia,” he said.
“The deputy ended up contacting the owner of the vehicle, and discovered that it was an unreported stolen car out of (the city of Los Angeles),” Dubin added.
House is currently in custody at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and will appear in court in San Fernando on Thursday.
“Our deputies try to keep a constant and vigilant patrol at all hours of the night to make sure Santa Clarita Valley residents are safe from crime,” Dubin said.
