Roundup: Trinity Basketball Playoff Run Ends

trinityknightslogoThe Trinity boys basketball team ended its CIF state playoff run against Horizon Christian, 52-33, in the second round of the Southern California Division V Regionals.


The Knights took an early lead in the first quarter, but Horizon Christian, the top-seeded team in the Southern California Regional slowly pulled away as the game unfolded.


Ryan Brooks and Ian Caddow each scored a team-high seven points for Trinity. Brooks also had seven rebounds.


In high school softball, Valencia beat Torrance, 7-2, and finished with a 3-2 record in the Mohave Tournament of Champions in Arizona.


The Valencia girls lost to Lakewood , 6-2, in their first game on Saturday.


Kristina Brackpool was 3-for-4 in the game against Torrance. Sydney Mundell gave up one earned run and pitched a complete game.


Allie Johnson went 3-for-3 and Emma Stanley tripled and scored in the second inning.


In high school baseball, Canyon swept a doubleheader against Notre Dame from Sherman Oaks. The Cowboys won the first game, 9-1, and the nightcap, 8-5.


Vinny Fitzgerald drove in three runs in the first game and hit a three-run home run in the second game.


In college baseball, The Master’s College won its 20th game of the season in a doubleheader against Westmont.


The Mustangs won both games. They won the first game, 6-4, and the second game, 7-1.


The College of the Canyons baseball team beat LA Valley College, 7-5, in a Western State Southern Conference game.


Chad DeLaGuerra drove in four runs and was 3-for-5. Alex Bishop had three hits, two doubles and a triple.


In the NBA, the Lakers beat the visiting Chicago Bulls, 90-81, and are finally in the playoff picture. The Lakers moved into the eighth and final playoff spot, a half-game ahead of the Utah Jazz.


The Lakers are 33-31, the first time this season they are two games over .500.


The Clippers blew out the Detroit Pistons, 129-97. Blake Griffin scored 22 points and was one of seven Clippers in double figures.


In spring training, the Dodgers beat the Rockies, 6-1.


In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Calgary Flames. Listen to the game tonight on AM-1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
