CougarNews.com | The best surprise is no surprise: COC golf remains undefeated

The COC golf team is 18-0, and no one is surprised.

One of College of the Canyons’ most successful programs is swinging with urgency, as they continue to dominate the competition, week after week; but why hasn’t anyone heard of them? Well, as coach Gary Peterson put it,

“It’s golf. I mean, think about high school … who played golf in high school?”

That may be so, but the fact of the matter remains, all they care about is winning, as shown by the fact that they haven’t lost yet, and they don’t show any signs of losing anytime soon. With elite players like, Luke Kristo, Sebastian FIedorow, and Riley Hayfield, this Cougar team seems equipped to contend with anyone in the state and win.

However according to Luke Kristo, they are still not where they need to be.

“We haven’t hit our peak yet, which is good. There is a lot to work on, and being 18-0 while you are working on everything is a great sign obviously.”

As for Peterson, he feels there are some elements missing.

“We still need a couple guys to step up and assert themselves. We got some great players and they have a great bond, but we need a couple guys to really take charge if we want to win another state championship.”
