SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Based on its 3-0 performance in the pool play portion of the NAIA Volleyball National Championship tournament, The Master’s College volleyball team earned a first round bye in bracket play.
On top of the bye, the Lady Mustangs nab the tournament’s No. 4 seed and automatically advance to the quarterfinal round.
The Master’s College opened the pool play portion of the National Championship tournament Tuesday afternoon against MidAmerica Nazarene University (KS), winning a thrilling five-set match at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lady Mustangs followed that performance up on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over the previously undefeated and 4th-ranked Crusaders from Madonna University to get their second win in pool play.
The Master’s closed out pool play with a 3-2 victory (25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 17-25, 15-8) over 25th-ranked Rocky Mountain College (25-9) on Thursday afternoon to finish with a spotless 3-0 record in pool play. The victory also raises the 16th-ranked Lady Mustangs’ 2013 season record to 23-8.
TMC will play 19th-ranked Wayland Baptist (34-6), the tournament’s 5th seed.
First serve is set for 3:45 p.m. (PST).
