SCV Jailhouse - Already a Scary Place - is Haunted

jailhouse2Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are asking the public to stop by the Annual Haunted Jailhouse Halloween event on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and help them look for ghosts and goblins spotted in and around the station jail. This is the 24th annual Haunted Jailhouse Halloween event.

More than a thousand children and community members from all over the Santa Clarita Valley are expected to attend this year’s event.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with the Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club, the City of Santa Clarita, and the County of Los Angeles will host this year’s Annual Haunted Jailhouse Halloween event at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station – 23740 Magic Mountain Parkway, Santa Clarita.

The event will include Sheriff’s Department displays, moon bounces, music, food and challenging game booths provided by non-profit organizations from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. Game tickets will vary in cost for the game booths throughout the event. You can even visit the “Dunk a Deputy Booth” for a chance at dunking the station commander and other local deputies.

jailhouse1This year will of course include a Halloween Costume contest for the children in attendance. Trophies will be awarded for each age category. The age categories and times of the contests are as follows: Under 2 will be judged at 12:30 pm, Ages 2 to 4 at 1:00 pm, Ages 5 to 7 at 1:30 pm, Ages 8 to 10 at 2:00 pm, Ages 11 to 12 at 2:30 pm and Ages 13 to Adults at 3:00 pm.

This combined effort of the above organizations provides a safe, fun, and adventurous Halloween outing that the community looks forward to each year. It also continues to build community partnerships.

Also, children over age 6 and their parents should not forget to tour the Sheriff’s Haunted Jailhouse decorated by the SCV Boys and Girls Club. A separate Halloween tour area, specifically designed for children under age 6, will also be available. A $1 donation is requested at the entry gate which will be donated to the SCV Boys and Girls Club.
