Civilian Supervisor at Pitchess Busted for Allegedly Bringing Drugs

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 5 a.m., Juan Ortiz, a civilian laundry supervisor at Pitchess Detention Center, South Facility, was arrested and charged with bringing narcotics into a jail facility, a felony. Ortiz was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station where he is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Suspect Ortiz, who is 55-years-old, was an employee of the Sheriff’s Department for 13 years, assigned to the laundry. Ortiz was arrested at Pitchess Detention Center, South Facility, by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau personnel after a brief investigation.

After he was arrested Ortiz resigned from the Department.
