Anthony Ervin
Former Olympic Gold Medalist and Hart graduate Anthony Ervin will be competing in the FINA World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, Spain this weekend.
The prelims and final will both be held on Sunday, July 28. NBC and Universal Sports will televise the competition.
Ervin finished second in the US National Championships July 1st in Indianapolis to qualify for the World’s.
Winner of the Gold Medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, Ervin has spent more than a decade on an odyssey that took him from the pool to Far East enlightenment. The 1999 Hart grad walked away from competitive swimming in 2003, sold his gold medal to aid victims of the 2004 tsunami, and embarked on a search for personal growth during which he became a practicing Zen Buddhist.
In 2010 he began a comeback that saw him reach the London Olympic Games in 2012 where he finished fifth in the 50-meter freestyle.
