Defender Jose Esquivel scored a goal and added an assist in the Storm’s fourth win in five games.

Saturday night at Harry Welch Stadium under clear hot sky’s with temps in the mid 90′s. The Las Vegas Stallions FC came in to town with the idea to start getting some points in the South West Division. But the Stallions fell to the Storm 3-0 in a match that put the Storm all alone at the top of the South West Division of the Western Conference standings.

In the 72nd minute of play the Storms newly signed Juan Camacho in midfield collected the ball and laid a pass on the left foot of Alex Harlley. His shot found the net and the Storm led 1-0.

One minute later, off an assist from Tyler Coombes, Storm defender Jose Esquivel took the ball some 25 yards and shot to the far post beyond the reach of Stallions keeper Garcia.

In the 78th minute it was Esquivel again who this time made the pass and found forward Andres Bueno who added the third goal in just six minutes.

With the Santa Clarita Storm win in combination with a 4-1 loss of the Orange County Pateadores to the San Diego Flash, the Storm now sits on top of the NPSL South West Division of the Western Conference with 13 points.

The Storm will face the Pateadores next Saturday at Harry Welch Stadium in Canyon Country in a 7 pm kick off. Tickets are available at Planet Soccer in Newhall, Margarita’s Mexican Grill in Valencia and at the Santa Clarita Soccer Center on Soledad Canyon.
