Valencia Baseball Shuts Down Oaks Christian

valenciavikingslogoThe Valencia baseball team beat Oaks Christian, 9-1, behind a three RBI day from Chris McCready. He had two doubles and Keston Hiura went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs.


Valencia starter Luke Soroco pitched six shut-out innings and struck out five. The Vikings improved to 4-1.


The Saugus baseball team lost to Agoura, 17-5.


In high school volleyball, the Canyon boys rallied and beat Burbank in five games. The Cowboys lost the first two games of the match, but won the next three. They finished off the match, 15-12, over Burbank in the fifth set.


Canyon is 3-1 to start the season.


In high school tennis, the Valencia boys beat Camarillo, 13-5. The Valencia doubles teams won eight of the nine sets.


In college baseball, The Master’s College beat Ashford, 10-1. Steve Karkenny and Chris Talley each drove in three runs for the Mustangs who improved to 18-7.


In college golf, The Master’s College men finished in third place in the Spring Invite at Robinson Ranch. Cal Lutheran won the three-round tournament by four strokes over Cal State San Marcos, the No. 3 ranked team in the NAIA.


Thane Ringler from The Master’s College finished in a four-way tie for first place. He lost in a playoff to Mikey McGinn from Cal Lutheran.


The Master’s College, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, finished 11 strokes behind Cal Lutheran.


In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-105. The Lakers cut the lead to five points in the fourth quarter, but the Thunder scored the last 12 points of the game.


In spring training, the Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres, 7-3. Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw was roughed up. The Padres scored four runs on seven hits in three innings against him. Kershaw also hit a batter and walked a batter.


In the NHL, the Kings scored four goals in the third period and beat the St. Louis Blues, 6-4. It was the second game in a row the Kings came alive with a four-goal third period. Jake Mu in scored two goals, including one in the third period.


The Kings have won seven of the past eight games. Next up are the Dallas Stars on Thursday.
