Cougars Drop to 1-4 in Conference on Loss to Citrus

The College of the Canyons baseball team gave up four runs in the sixth inning of Saturday’s conference game against Citrus College, losing to the Fighting Owls, 7-6, at Cougar Field.

With the loss, COC falls to 1-4 in conference and 5-9 on the season.

Pitcher Steven Farnworth gave up five runs and nine hits in 5.1 innings of work and suffered his second loss of the season.

The Cougars made it interesting in the eighth inning, as Kevin Lenik hit a two-run homer to cut the deficit to one run. However, COC couldn’t score any runs in the final inning.

Alex Bishop and Lenik combined for four hits and five RBIs.

COC travels to Citrus College on Tuesday, March 5 for a 2 p.m. game.
