Jersey Mike's Donates $8K+ to Golden Valley High

jerseymikeslogo[KHTS] – Jersey Mike’s Subs opened at a new location on Golden Valley Road last week with long lines, a marching band and more than $8,000 in donations for Golden Valley High.

“With each day, the line got longer as more people heard about our Grand Opening,” said Amy Sandberg, Jersey Mike’s marketing and catering director. “We were thrilled with the support the community gave to the school and look forward to working with Golden Valley frequently in the future.”

The sub shop opened by offering a free sandwich with a minimum of a $2 donation and raised money that will help the high school’s performing arts programs, which took part in the opening ceremony.

The Grizzlies’ show choir and band stopped by and made performances on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, as long lines outside remained a constant for most of the week.

The celebration began on Wednesday with a performance by Golden Valley High School’s Choir, which was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce.

On Thursday, Golden Valley High School’s band entertained a group of more than 100 customers with an on-site performance.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s serves passionate fans who crave their subs made “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices.

The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread.

Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike’s more than 50 years ago.

The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is the fifth Jersey Mike’s location for franchise owner Steve Youlios.

In February 2008, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s store in Saugus.

He owns additional stores in Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.
