Sept. 30: Candlelight Vigil to 'Light the Way Home' for Bryce Laspisa

brycelaspisa093013One month after Laguna Nigel teenager Bryce Laspisa went missing near Castaic Lake, family and friends are holding a candlelight vigil in his honor.

The “Light the Way Home for Bryce” vigil will be held at Castaic Lake Lagoon near the corner of Lake Hughes Road and Ridge Route Road, on Monday at 6 p.m., to coincide with similar vigils in Naperville, Ill near Laspisa’s high school and in Rocklin, Calif. at Sierra College where he attended.

The Castaic vigil is open to the public, and attendees will receive a glowstick to light in honor of Laspisa. Everyone is also asked to wear orange or white.

Glenn David, Laspisa’s uncle, said that the support of the Santa Clarita Valley and Castaic communities has been overwhelming, especially because parents Michael and Karen Laspisa live in Orange County and don’t know anyone locally.

“They’re like us, they’re not giving up,” David said of the volunteers who helped search for Laspisa in the areas surrounding Castaic Lake.

Laspisa went missing on Aug. 30, on his way from Sierra College in Rocklin to his home in Laguna Niguel, Orange County. His car was found overturned near Castaic Lake, with his laptop and cellphone still inside, but Laspisa was not there.

Deputies have called off an active search, because of a lack of information, but the family continues to receive information from people in around the country who think they have seen Laspisa.

The latest possible sighting was in Oxnard, according to the “Find Bryce Laspisa” Facebook page.

If you have any information on Laspisa’s whereabouts, please contact Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station’s Sergeant Roger Wallace at 661-272-2594 or California Highway Patrol Sergeant Paul Reyes at 661-294-5540.
