Truck fire causes widespread TWC Internet Outage

Perry Smith | KHTS AM 1220

According to sources:

Around 1 a.m. in the morning last night, there was a truck fire at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue, and that fire caused very extensive damage to Time Warner Cable’s fiber optic strands.

There are approximately 500 pairs of fiber strands that they are repairing, and they’ve been working on it there since the early morning. They will not be finished making those repairs until at least late afternoon.

This has been the cause of numerous Internet service outages in the Newhall area, including the library.
