As part of Black History Month, the SCV Senior Center’s February Scholar Series will feature a historic overview and brief biographical sketches of African-American writers from the Antebellum and Civil War periods, the Negro Spiritual tradition, the Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights movement and the rise of Black Awareness/Black Power literature.
The program will be presented by John Swinford, retired chair of the English Department at Hollywood High School, on Thursday, Feb. 7 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in rooms A-1 and A-2.
