SANTA CLARITA — COC baseball falls to Glendale Thursday, as the Vaqueros not only tied the game the ninth inning, they scored three more in the 10th inning to beat COC 6-4.
Despite getting 12 hits in the game, COC (4-5, 1-2), could not field the baseball well, as they had 3 errors in the game.
Also, hitting the leadoff batter in the eight, ninth, and tenth inning didn’t help their cause.
Glendale (6-3, 3-0), came through in the clutch in the top of the ninth inning, with two outs, got a RBI single from Jay Sheeley to score Justin Jones, to tie the game at 3-3.
Sheeley would later get caught stealing at third base to end the ninth inning threat.
COC could not get anything done in the bottom of the ninth, with back to back strike-outs from Daniel Lee and Nick Vigo and a ground-out from Alex Bishop.
In the top of the tenth inning, the Vaqueros would show why they are the number one team in conference.
Capitalizing on a leadoff hit batter, single, and a walk to load the bases, Glendale would go on to score three runs, after a 2 RBI single by Andre Angel
COC did score a run in the bottom of the tenth from an RBI single by Corey Sims, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
“We made it easy, you give a good team chances, there bound to catch up to you,” said Coach Chris Cota. “I dont think we battled today, and I dont think we were very tough today.”
COC baseball loses off extra inning heroics by Glendale, 6-4.
