With the score tied at 3-3 after nine innings, Glendale scored three runs in the 10th inning en route to a 6-4 victory over the Cougars in the first game of a home/away series with the Vaqueros on Thursday afternoon at Cougar Field.
With the loss, COC falls to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in Western State Conference, South, play. Canyons held the lead from the from the third inning to the ninth, before the Vaqueros put together their one-run ninth and three-run 10th inning.
Glendale loaded the bases in the top of the 10th inning before Andre Angel hits a two-RBI single, followed by another RBI single from Glendale’s Sergio Plase.
The Cougars had one runner score in the bottom of the 10th, but the run was cut short. Pitcher Andy Arriaga took the loss for COC after allowing four earned runs with a walk in four innings.
For the third time this season Canyons reached the 10-hit mark, matching a season-high 12 hits. Corey Sims led the Cougars with three hits, as he went 3-for-4 in the game with a run scored and an RBI.
The Cougars will travel to Bakersfield tomorrow, Feb. 22, to take on the Renegades in a game that was rained out last weekend.
