[KHTS] – The Golden Valley girls golf team won the first Foothill League match at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar.
The Golden Valley girls won the match by six strokes over Valencia. The Grizzlies shot 188 as a team.
Hart’s Katie Corr shot the low round of the match, a 2-over 33. Golden Valley’s Elisa Pierre and Justine Reblando each shot 3-over 34s. Valencia’s Eunice Song and West Ranch’s Ashley Mayall were also 3-over.
In high school volleyball, the Hart girls swept Chaminade in three games. Corrine Holloway had 11 kills and four blocks for Hart. The Indians are 2-1 in their first three matches.
The Canyon girls lost to Burbank in three games. Canyon is 0-4 to start the season.
The Master’s College men’s cross country team dropped a couple spots in the NAIA rankings after starting in the preseason top 10.
The Mustangs are ranked No. 11 in the first NAIA regular season men’s cross country poll. They were ranked No. 9 in the preseason poll.
The Master’s College hosts The Mustang Challenge meet at Central Park on Saturday.
The Master’s College women’s cross country team is ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA poll.
The Lady Mustangs are also competing in The Mustang Challenge.
In soccer, the College of the Canyons men won their first game of the season, 2-0, against Glendale College in the Western State Conference opener for both teams.
The Cougars are 1-2-2 in their first five games of the season.
In baseball, the Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-4.
The Dodgers magic number to clinch the National League West championship remains at two. They can wrap up the division title against the Diamondbacks today with a win.
