CougarNews.com | Sexual offender sentenced to prison

A Stevenson ranch man will spend 43 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to rape charges. 19 year old Jerry Moon was sentenced in a Los Angeles County Superior Court in San Fernando Monday.

Moon was involved in a rape and other charges from the January 2012 sexual assault of a local santa Clarita woman.

The woman was assaulted after Moon, broke into her home. He was arrested by and about a month after the crimes and has remained in custody since then.

In addition to rape, he pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges and admitted that during commission of the crimes, the victim was tied and bound. Moon also admitted that the sexual assaults occurred during a burglary.

Judge Lloyd Nash denied his request for a new trial Monday. Due to California sentencing guidelines, Moon must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
