Auto Collision Precipitates Stabbing in Newhall

lasdgenericOn Sunday, Sept. 15, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputies received a call for service regarding a man who had been stabbed.

Deputies responded to the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita. When deputies arrived at the location they found a 25-year-old male had been stabbed and was severely wounded. The male was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery in order to save his life. The male victim remains in the intensive care unit, and he is expected to survive.

Deputies immediately began an investigation into who stabbed the man. A detective with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau, along with deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Crime Lab responded and began interviewing witnesses and processing the scene for evidence.

Preliminary information has led detectives to believe that once the victim parked his vehicle at the location, a dark colored, possible late 1990’s model year Chevy Impala with two male occupants crashed into the victim’s vehicle. It is possible that this traffic collision was intentional. After the traffic collision, one of the male suspects reportedly confronted the victim at the driver’s side door of the victim’s vehicle. The victim was then stabbed. The suspects fled the area in their vehicle and have not yet been located.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detectives remain at the location as this active investigation continues.

Based on preliminary reports, detectives are investigating what relationship, if any, the victim and the suspects might have. Detectives are unsure yet whether the incident was a case of road rage, or was possibly gang-related.

No further information is available at this time.
