Fall is a busy time in the city of Santa Clarita, with a wide variety of great programs and events planned for the community.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the city will host its award-winning River Rally Cleanup and Environmental Expo. The event is expected to draw large numbers of volunteers interested in helping remove trash and debris from the Santa Clara River.
The city will provide volunteers with snacks, water and a small gift in appreciation for their service to the community. This year, we will be cleaning in the river area adjacent to the Newhall Community Center at 22421 Market Street.
River Rally is always a popular event for local Scout troops, clubs, congregations and other community service organizations. More information is available through the city of Santa Clarita’s Environmental Services Division at 661-284-1415 or online at www.greensantaclarita.com.
Old Town Newhall in September will include some great events. On Thursday, Sept. 5, Art Slam will begin at 7 p.m. The September theme is Film Slam. Discover the process of film making – involving story, direction, visualization and style. The art of film making can include words, poetry, sound, music, dance, painting, movement, form, line and tempo which come to life on Main Street during this art-inspired event.
The September SENSES street fair will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. The September theme is “Down the Rabbit Hole.” Join us for a chaotic and confusing evening where you can decorate Mad Hatter top hats, sing and dance on Main Street with the March hare, and have tea time with your friends. “You would have to be half mad to dream me up” – Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland.
