Summer is here and it is time for some free Shakespeare in the park. This summer’s production is Henry IV part I, and marks the fourth season at the Rivendale site in Towsley Canyon.
Although the performances of the Shakespeare are free, the series is expensive to produce: staging, scenery, costumes, props, designers, directors, programs and restrooms. In order to raise the funds for the production, the SCSF is inviting patrons for a special “Dinner With Henry,” a fundraising dinner and preview of the production.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to meet the director, cast, designers and crew, all of which make it the production possible,” says David Stears, the company’s executive director. “It is also a celebration for the opening of the summer season and a way for us to thank our supporters.”
“Dinner With Henry” is Friday, July 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Tickets are $50 per person, and include: Dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse, with wine, dessert and a exclusive performance of Henry IV part I.
For tickets visit http://shakespearepreview.eventbrite.com.
General performances are free are Saturdays and Sundays through July: 13, 14, 20, 21, and August 3 and 4th. All performances begin at 7 pm.
This is the second annual special preview dinner and performance of the summer Shakespeare in the Park series. All proceeds benefit the free Shakespeare in the Park performances and the Summer High School Apprentice Company.
The festival is held at the Rivendale site, located at the entrance of Towsley Canyon and is part of the L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale.
