Acton Dog Shelter Needs Help to Win

britany070913The Brittany Foundation, an Acton-based nonprofit that runs a no-kill shelter for homeless dogs, is in the running for $15,000 worth of pet food and supplies from Kriser’s.

Christmas in JulyKriser’s Christmas in July contest will award prizes to one winner and two runners-up out of ten finalists in Southern California.

The winner must receive the most votes on the Kriser’s Facebook page by Monday, July 22. Participants must like the page to vote and can vote once a day.

This is the Brittany Foundation’s first time participating since 2011.

Founder Nancy Anderson said that she hopes to win, because times are tough and the foundation would like to continue caring for as many dogs as they can, especially the dogs they cannot place.

The foundation focuses on dogs that are not as adoptable: puppy mill rescues, senior dogs and undesirable breeds, such as pit bulls. All dogs that are not adopted live at the shelter for life.

But, Anderson also said that even if the foundation doesn’t win, she wishes the best for the shelter that does, because it’s the animals who ultimately win.
