Freshman Tim White continued to blow away his competition as he won the triple jump at the Mount San Antonio Relays on Saturday. White leaped 49 feet, 10 1/2 inches to beat out the second-place finisher, Michael Lewis from San Joaquin Delta College, by more than two feet, and never posted a jump lower than anyone in the 13-man field.
White, who was 1/2 inch short of his season-best jump, is ranked second in the nation among community college triple jumpers. He also came in third place in the high jump after clearing 6 feet, 6 inches.
COC saw three new season-best marks posted by members of the squad.
Freshman sprinter Andrew Sanchez ran the 200-meter dash in 22.46 seconds to shave .10 seconds off his fastest time of the year.
Freshman Jessica Gill ran 1 minute, .82 second in the 400-meter dash to rank 11th in the Western State Conference in the event.
Sophomore Nouneh Assadouria turned in a season-best mark in the triple jump, with a leap of 33 feet, 4 3/4 inches. Assadouria finished in seventh place at the conference championships in 2012 with a jump of 34 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
