Good morning Saugus. This week we had a slight increase in reported Part-1 crimes. There was a shoplift burglary on Monday, 04/08/13, in the 28400 block of Haskell Canyon Road. A male and female entered the store and stole high end razors from a display rack. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and actively working the case to locate the suspects.
There was another shoplift burglary on Tuesday, 04/09/13, in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. The suspect placed several items in his cart and then proceeded through the exit, failing to pay for the items. The suspect was detained outside the store and subsequently arrested when deputies arrived.
There was a petty theft from a local drinking establishment in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Wednesday, 04/10/13. The victim secured her bicycle outside the bar and left her duffle bag alongside it, unsecured. After approximately 15 minutes she returned to her bicycle and noticed that her bag had been stolen. Please remember to keep items of value with you while out in public.
There was a petty theft from a beauty salon in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Tuesday, 04/09/13. An employee at the location discovered that her purse had been stolen from the rear of the location. She learned that there had been unauthorized transactions on her credit cards later in the day. Detectives are actively working the case.
There was a great arrest of commercial burglary suspects on Saturday, 04/13/13. While patrolling the Saugus area a deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business. Upon further investigation a female was detained after finding the back door to the business open and evidence that a burglary had occurred. After learning that a second suspect had been involved there was a search of the area. The search for the second suspect stretched over two shifts. With the help of alert citizens in Saugus, deputies were able to locate the second suspect who was then arrested for burglary.
