Friends of the Library Now Recruiting

library041113aThe Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is hosting a Membership Drive during the month of April for residents interested in getting involved with the non-profit support group for the Santa Clarita Public Library.

Volunteers will host author events and book signings, fundraise, advocate and participate at community events, and collaborate with library staff to provide a wide variety of programs of interest to Santa Clarita residents.

The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is an active group of residents with 111 members who help advocate and fundraise for the Santa Clarita Public Library.  Since its inception, the Friends have brought in more than $60,000 helping the City develop and expand its library services and programs.

One of the group’s most successful efforts is providing funds in support of the annual Summer Reading Program.  Other notable efforts supported by the Friends include sponsoring author events, adult and children programming, the 2012 Hobbit programming, the Old Town Newhall Grand Opening, the first birthday celebrations for the Santa Clarita Public Libraries, new technology and much more.
