Detectives Seek Public's Help to ID Dumped Body

body040913Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are asking for the public’s help regarding information about the discovery of a body off San Francisquito Canyon Road.

At approximately 4:45 Wednesday afternoon April 10, 2013, deputies from Santa Clarita Valley Station responded to San Francisquito Canyon Road, approximately five miles south of Spunky Canyon Road, Angeles National Forest, regarding a call of a possible dead body.

When the deputies arrived at the location they contacted Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) employees who told the deputies they were working at the site when they noticed a “foul” odor. The workers checked the area and found the source of the odor was a tarp, approximately 20 feet west of the roadway.

When the deputies saw human legs were protruding from the tarp they notified Homicide Bureau detectives who responded to the location and took control of the “suspicious death” investigation.

The cause of death, gender, and age of the victim will be determined by Los Angeles County Coroner’s office investigators.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
