CougarNews.com | Thieves hit SCV schools

Screen shot 2013-04-14 at 12.33.33 AMThe Santa ClaritaValley       Sheriff’s Department  is  investigating burglaries that occurred in four school’s across the Santa Clarita Valley.


Sheriffs officials said Old    Orchard Elementary, Newhall Elementary, Sierra Vista Junior High, and Hart High School were all robbed.


Detectives  are seeking public assistance to capture  two suspects, one of whom was caught on surveillance video at William S.  Hart high school.


Items stolen include, laptop computers, a television, and  other items that sheriffs officials said may cost each school $10,000.


Sierra Vista Junior High School appeared to be hit the hardest.   Thieves snatched  10 computers, a flat screen television, and other unidentified items.


The Sheriff’s department has said they have ”extra directed patrols” at and near schools, and that at least one suspect  looked to be perhaps 18-21 years old, and a possible  former student of Hart High School.
