Civic-minded Students Encouraged to Apply for D.C. Trip

santaclaritatransitbuscitybusSanta Clarita Transit is encouraging high school students who will be in their junior and senior year in fall 2013 to apply for a unique opportunity to participate in an all-expenses-paid, five-day trip to Washington, D.C., as part of the third annual American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Youth Summit.

Students from across the country will come together June 23 – June 27, 2013 to learn how public transportation helps build vibrant communities and improves the environment at APTA’s Generation Green on Board Youth Summit.

The hands-on summit will explore how communities as a whole can prosper with increased services; the role local and federal policies play in public transit usage; introduce students to lawmakers and congressional leaders; and expose participants to career opportunities in the transit industry.

Completed applications are due on Monday, April 22, 2013 and can be emailed to students@apta.com or faxed to 202-496-4323.
