Hundreds of supporters, volunteers and guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Tuesday for the SCV Pregnancy Center’s annual fundraising banquet, A Voice for the Voiceless.
The SCVPC, located in Valencia, is a nonprofit organi ation for women facing unplanned pregnancies. They offer services such as medical-grade pregnancy tests, ultrasound, prenatal and infant care classes and postabortion recovery.
The center exists “to empower men and women regarding pregnancy related decisions through information, education and practical assistance,” according to its mission statement.
Center officials also want to “encourage practical alternatives to abortion.”
After dinner, banquet guests had the opportunity to view a live ultrasound and CEO Angela Bennett introduced several center clients, including Celeste and her infant son Dante.
SCVPC helped by “listening to all I had to say,” Celeste said, “and giving positive feedback to my emotions.”
Keynote speaker Melissa Ohden shared her story of how she survived a saline infusion abortion and through the support of her adoptive family, eventually reconciled with her biological family.
The goal of the banquet was not just to raise money so that SCVPC can continue providing free services, but to help people understand other ways they can get involved.
