The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team defeated West L.A. College 85-67 – their third win in a row since their must win game over Bakersfield.
The Lady Cougars started off the game with a 2-point lead and kept up the momentum throughout the entire first half of the game, shooting 50 percent from the three-point line.
Keiona Mathews led the way during the first half, making three out of five three-pointers.
In the second half, the Lady Cougars outmatched West L.A. defensively, resulting with an 18-point lead.
The Lady Cougars’ victory over Bakersfield has given the team some momentum.
“I think our loss to L.A. Valley might have gotten us a little more focused on the task at hand,” head coach Greg Herrick said. “We want to get into the playoffs.”
The Lady Cougars have two more conference games left this season
College of the Canyons will host their next game on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Lady Cougars win third consecutive conference game
