Ninety-three incidents of possible discharging of firearms were reported in LASD patrol area between Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 1 at 4 a.m. A 74-year old Gardena woman reported her foot was injured and a Compton woman reported her car was hit by gunfire. No other injuries or property damage was reported to deputies pertaining to the extremely dangerous practice of discharging firearms into the air to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
