The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with CalArts, will host a performance titled “Music from Almost Tomorrow” with a group of students from the Share the World Program for local junior high students at Arroyo Seco Junior High School on Jan. 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The performance will feature dance performances and world music ensembles, ranging from jazz, Latin jazz, Balinese Gamelan to North and South Indian music, and African music,” said Donna Avila, Arts and Events Coordinator at CalArts.
The California Institute of the Arts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) Share the World Program is a partnership with the City of Santa Clarita and the six local Santa Clarita School Districts. The program introduces students to a variety of diverse cultural traditions and helps them explore the world of sound using computers, sound samples and composed music.
The CAP Share the World Program brings CalArts world music and dance ensembles to provide performances and workshops for students in elementary, middle and high schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
