Newhall Community Center Extends Hours Over Winter Break

newhallcommunitycenterSchool’s out for the holidays and the City of Santa Clarita is offering fun, new programming to help youth stay active on the weekdays throughout winter break.

Now through Friday, January 10, 2014, the Newhall Community Center will offer FREE drop-in programming from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) for youth ages 5-17.  Saturday drop-in programming will resume on January 11, 2014 with new hours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Newhall Community Center’s drop-in programming helps beat winter break boredom and keep kids safe and entertained with an assortment of activities, including organized games, winter-themed arts and crafts, story time, music and movement, science projects, computer activities and much more.

communitycenter112313“December marks the start of the winter season, providing the perfect opportunity for families to explore the many resources offered through the City of Santa Clarita’s local community centers,” stated Mayor Laurene Weste.  “The City is committed to providing structured programs and activities to keep our youth happy and healthy, and indoor activities such as these are a great way to accomplish that goal during the winter months.”

No registration is required, but participants must be a member of the Newhall Community Center to join drop-in programming.  Those who are not yet members can sign up for FREE at the Newhall Community Center.

The Newhall Community Center will not offer programming on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.  However, the Center will be open and staffed until noon.  For more information about the Winter Break hours or the new Saturday drop-in programming, please contact the Newhall Community Center at (661) 286-4006 or visit Santa-Clarita.com/NCC.
