Dec. 22: Sheriff Toy Drive for Hoefflin Kids at Golden Valley High

[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and Golden Valley High School students are sharing toy donations Sunday with Michael Hoefflin Foundation children battling cancer at a holiday party.


Sheriff’s Department personnel, Pitchess Detention Center staff and local Sheriff’s Station deputies will be on hand at Golden Valley High School at 2 p.m. with the students to spread cheer with the annual toy drive.


“This is a great event, and an opportunity for deputies to really give back to those seeking comfort and support, during what is probably one of the most meaningful times of the year,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.


“We work directly with the community we serve, and events such as this one really drive that home for residents, and deputies, as well,” he said.


Golden Valley High School students have collected gift cards to help with the effort.


John Bergstrom, SCVTV's house guitarist, is scheduled to perform. John Bergstrom, SCVTV’s house singer-songwriter, is scheduled to perform.


Western Music performer John Bergstrom, who’s also a retired Saugus High School history teacher, will be providing entertainment.


The Acton hand bell choir Harmonic Breeze, directed by Larry Rowland, also will be on scene, and there will also be a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department custody assistant who will be dressed as Santa Claus.


Sheriff Lee Baca and department personnel also will be volunteering time in Santa Monica to assist members of the Viking Charities assemble and hand-deliver more than 1,500 holiday food packages and much-needed staples to specifically identified families-in-need.


That event will take place at Santa Monica Airport, Barker Hanger.


Each basket contains a turkey and miscellaneous dinner items.


This year commemorates 32 years of collaboration between the Sheriff’s Department and Viking Charities.


Viking Charities is a leading charity for disadvantaged children in Los Angeles County.  Throughout the year, the Vikings Charities Organization and stations within the Sheriff’s Department identify families that are suffering hardships and in need during the holidays.
