All-CIF Basketball Star Transfers to West Ranch

Boys’ basketball player Christian Ware-Berry is transferring from Providence High in Burbank to West Ranch.

According to the Burbank Leader, Ware-Berry made the announcement on his Twitter account.

During the 2012-13 season, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 22.2 points per game, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals for the Pioneers. He was named First Team All-Liberty League and Second Team All-CIF DivisionV-AA.

Pioneers’ Coach Ernest Baskerville confirmed that Ware-Berry has left the program.

“I had an idea that it was coming because his family had to move,” Baskerville told the Leader on Monday.

“It was unfortunate for sure, but I wish him the best. He is just a great all-around person; a great student, great kid, great basketball player, great leader, great teammate, all of those things. We had a team barbecue [Sunday] and he was there hangin’ with the other guys…he will always be a part of our basketball family.”

The West Ranch Wildcats are the two-time defending Foothill league champions. However, the team lost 10 players to graduation.
