Two of the applicants to fill Paul Strickland’s seat on the Hart School Board – Kenneth Dean and Randall Winter – have withdrawn their names from consideration, a school district official said Tuesday.
The remaining 12 applicants are Kane Crawford, Michael Cruz, Chris Fall, Bruce Fox, Steven Herskovitz, John Kunak, Dean Morris, Barbara Myler, Brian Springer, Richard Shaw, Betti Sternberg and Tony Watson.
The four current members of the school board are expected to select one of the 12 to fill the vacancy at a special meeting Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The Hart School District Governing Board is holding a special meeting on Wednesday, June 5, to interview and make a provisional appointment to fill one Board vacancy. The public meeting will be at 3 p.m. in the District Boardroom. The selected candidate will take the oath of office and begin the provisional term at the regular board meeting on June 19.
The seat was vacated by longtime board member Paul Strickland, who earlier this year announced his intent to move out of state.
Fourteen candidates applied for the appointment and have cleared the requirements including being at least 18 years of age, be a resident of the Hart School District, be a registered voter in the State of California, and not be disqualified from holding civil office by the constitution or any law of the State of California.
The 14 applicants are: Kane Crawford, Michael Cruz, Kenneth Dean, Chris Fall, Bruce Fox, Steven Herskovitz, John Kunak, Dean Morris, Barbara Myler, Brian Springer, Richard Shaw, Betti Sternberg, Tony Watson and Randal Winter.
